Royal Swazi Spa

“Still best hotel and casino in Swaziland.”

The Royal Swazi Spa and Casino has been in existence for about 75 years and has remained a great destination for South Africans and visitors alike.

It is now run by Sun International, one of South Africa’s major hotel chains.

It is worth its’ 5 star rating, and although Swaziland does not rate its’ hotels, it really should.

The casino itself is smallish but adequate.

Before South Africa allowed gambling in 1994, it was a favourite destination for gamblers but has now been somewhat relegated to a “nice to” gamble destination and a wonderful getaway for a few days.

The Hotel has two restaurants, one a buffet style restaurant and the other Planters Restaurant which is upmarket and has really great food.

Service is also very good.

A definite must.

Just one real complaint, come on Sun International, this is a 5 Star Hotel, really stop playing stupid games with wifi.

Most, if not all recognised international hotels give free wifi and the top hotels unlimited, however to limit it to 150mb a day, and to only 2 devices is ludicrous.

Most couples today have both mobile phones and tablets or laptops.

So that means each one can only use one of their devices.

Yes, I know that means you can make more money by selling extra airtime but really is this little amount worth p..ing off your guests?

You charge international 5 star prices to stay here. If you are really that desperate add an extra $10.00 onto the room rate and no one will notice.

Date of stay: June 2015

Trip type: Travelled as a couple
