“Wonderful deli in Norwood, Johannesburg.”
Vovo Telo has just opened in Norwood.
It is about 5kms / 3.5 miles from Sandton City.
The food is really great, with the bread baked on the premises and unbelievable.
In fact after lunch I bought a baguette, a 70% rye and a ciabatta to take home.
They lasted not even through dinner.
The menu whilst not extensive is more than adequate and based on light lunchtime type meals.
A special mention must be made of their ‘Bunny Chow’. This is a particular dish ‘made famous’ in Durban.
It usually consists of a 1/3 to 1/4 of a loaf of bread with the middle hollowed out and filled with either a chicken, beef or vegetable curry.
This was chicken in ciabatta bread.
It was absolutely amazing.
Definitely worth a few visits.
The one problem is the parking in Norwood. It is impossible, and with cars parking on both sides of the road even driving along Grant Avenue is an adventure.
