“Simply amazing old Cape style food.”
We were walking along the road in Green Point looking for a restaurant when I saw the totally unimposing entrance of Upper Bloem, and as we had never gone there before, and had passed it on numerous occasions, decided this time, as we were not really hungry, but simply peckish, to go in, after all it couldn’t be that bad.
What a revelation.
The food is a set menu, served as a type of tapas, and is incredibly good.
We enjoyed every mouthful.
The unfortunate aspect is that 2 of the courses only change every few months, so I will not be going back as often as I would wish.
Chef Andre is amazing.
The set price is R495.00 / USD33.00 / 30.00Euro which is extremely fair for what you get.
The only slight complaint is that the wine prices are somewhat excessive.
