Western Wall

“A Holy site for Jews.”

The Western Wall (Wailing Wall) is considered to be the last remaining wall of the 2nd temple built by King Solomon, before it was destroyed by the Romans in about 66 ACE.

It is sacred to Jews who pray at the wall and can insert letters with prayers into the gaps in the wall.

Both women and men must be suitably attired.

As in the orthodox tradition, women and men do not mix while praying, a separate section has recently been opened for women to pray at the wall as well. (Women could not go to the wall before.)
