“Excellent food and Jazz.”
The Back o’ the Moon was a famous shebeen in Sophiatown in the 1950’s and 1960’s. Rich and poor would meet there and enjoy music and great food. Some of the early legends of the South African music scene played there for the diners.
It is now located at the Gold Reef casino in the south of Johannesburg, about 20kms / 12 miles from Sandton.
The food is amazing.
Try to ensure that you are there when they have a jazz band.
