“An average Resort Hotel.”
The Umhlanga Sands Hotel is a family hotel on the beach in Umhlanga Rocks, a smallish village, about 10 kms/ 7 miles from Durban.
The hotel is graded 4 star but is honestly more like a 3 star hotel.
It has had a recent total revamp.
It is comfortable and has 2 swimming pools, one for adults only and a volleyball court.
There is a games room for the kids, 3 – 12, and there is daily supervised entertainment for the them.
It is disappointing if you have children, over 12 that need to be entertained…
The rooms all have a small kitchen or in the 2 and 4 sleepers a small kitchenette (refrigerator, microwave, and the usual utensils).
We stayed in a 4 sleeper.
The rooms themselves are good and large-ish with a balcony.
The main bedroom is more than ample, but the second bedroom is small, just fitting in the 2 other beds and is in the same area/room as the kitchenette, just inside the entrance door.
The bathrooms have a bath with a shower over the bath.
There are two restaurants on the premises, a steak house (Spur) as well as an Italian restaurant.
